Cavern
This course will teach you all the fundamental skills needed for overhead diving. It is the first of three courses on your road to the full cave certification. You will be able to plan and execute independant dives within the following limitations :
Daylight zone
Gas management rule of 1/6th of gas supply
61m – 200ft linear penetration
40m – 130 ft max depth
No decompression
No restrictions
Continuous guideline – no complex navigation
Course Details
Course duration: 4 days minimum
$4,500 MXN per day
Certification fees included
32% nitrox tanks included
Private instructor
Transfer to dive sites from Playa del Carmen
Prerequisites: Technical Side-Mount or Intro to Tech, 50 dives
Combinable with Intro to Cave and Full Cave
Theory
Gas Management & dive planning
Physics and physiology
Geology and cavern conservation
Problem solving & emergency procedures
Physical and psychological considerations
Communication
Team dynamic & positioning
Dangers of overhead diving
Land drills
In-water
Fundamentals while task loaded
Guideline and marker deployment
Following a guideline: positioning, awereness, team dynamics
Problem solving: valve shutdown drill, leakages management, gas sharing drill, mask replacement, light failure, other configuration-related equipment failures
Zero visibility exit in touch contact with and without sharing gas
Intro to Cave
After acquiring the fundamental skills of overhead diving, this course will take you past the daylight zone and into the proper cave environment. As an Intro to Cave diver you will be able to plan and execute dives within the following parameters:
Gas management rule of 1/6th of gas supply
40m – 130 ft max depth
No decompression
No restrictions
Continuous guideline – no complex navigation

Team separation
Line entanglement and cut/repair
Full Cave
The Full Cave course is the last step in becoming a cave diver. You will enjoy the complete experience and start exploring some side passages and more restricted areas. Using more of your gas supply and advanced dive planning you will be able to dive with new limits:
Gas management rule of 1/3th of gas supply
40m – 130 ft max depth
No decompression unless trained
Restrictions allowed – no equipment removal
Complex navigation allowed – intersections (T), jumps and gaps
Complex circuits and traverses allowed
